Lighthouse Campus, a Guiding Light for Sustainable Design
At Vantage, sustainability matters: to our business, to our customers and most importantly, to our communities where we live and operate. Sustainability is fundamental to how we design, build and operate our facilities. Our Port Washington campus represents the future of sustainable data center development and incorporates unique development features to minimize our impact while giving back to the community.
ENergy
100% Matched Zero-Carbon Energy
As part of our commitment to sustainable growth, the campus will be powered by new clean energy resources and designed to maximize efficiency. Through significant investments in renewable energy generation and zero-carbon power matching, the project will help expand Wisconsin’s clean energy infrastructure while supporting reliable, environmentally responsible operations:
- 70% of power capacity from zero-emission energy resources—all funded by Vantage without any impact on other ratepayers. The remaining electricity not generated from these new sources will be matched with renewable energy purchases
- Enabling the development of nearly 2,000MW of new renewable energy, including solar, wind and battery storage
- 30% of the new clean energy resources will provide power to all Wisconsin consumers
- Energy efficient design will exceed industry average
WATER
Positive Impact
Water positivity means reducing how much potable water the campus needs and supporting local projects that help restore or replenish water resources over time. Unlike traditional data centers, this campus will use a closed-loop cooling system, meaning it does not consume or discharge water during daily operations. The system recirculates water inside the closed system as opposed to an evaporative cooling system. We are committed to achieving water positivity, specifically through projects that address local water needs in the Port Washington area watersheds.
- Eliminates discharge to municipal systems or waterways
- Minimal water usage equivalent to just 65 residential homes
- No direct withdrawal from Lake Michigan (water used will come from the city’s water system)
- Investing in local water restoration projects to achieve water positivity
Our Lighthouse Campus will use a closed-loop cooling system, which continuously recycles water to conserve one of nature’s precious resources while reducing impact to local infrastructure. This cooling technique reduces water usage by 90% compared to traditional data center cooling methods. To learn more about closed-loop cooling, click here.

NatuRE
Biodiversity Net Gain
Biodiversity net gain means the project is planned to improve natural habitats and ecological value compared to existing site conditions, not just replace what was there before. Our goal is to leave the land healthier than we found it. We will do this by:
- Developing only 500 of 672 total acres, preserving and enhancing natural spaces
- Planting 2,345 native trees and extensive native landscaping to achieve a net gain in biodiversity
- Protecting and enhancing existing wetlands
- Creating an 8-foot planted berm with native species for natural sound mitigation
STANDARDS
LEED Certified
LEED is a green building standard that helps guide choices around energy use, water use, materials and construction planning, with independent review to confirm requirements are met. Vantage is pursuing LEED certification for the entire Wisconsin Campus, demonstrating our dedication to sustainable design, construction and operations.
